Westminster, which returns 10 players from last season's 21-11 team, opens this year with a No. 13 ranking in the NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Coaches' Preseason Top 25 Poll. The Griffins received 139 points.
NAIA honorable mention All-American Jake Orchard averaged 15.2 points last season for Westminster and needs just 60 points to become the ninth Griffin to reach the 1,000-point plateau.
Westminster opens the season on Friday when it travels to Las Vegas, N.M., for a 7 p.m. game against New Mexico Highlands. The home opener is slated for 7 p.m. on Nov. 2 against Fort Lewis (Colo.).
