A multi-vehicle crash on snowy Interstate 215 in Salt Lake City brought northbound traffic to a crawl late Thursday morning.

Utah Highway Patrol Cpl. Todd Johnson said the crash, which occurred just before 9 a.m. on I-215 near 750 North, did not result in any serious injuries.

In all, five vehicles were involved in the initial crash and a subsequent chain-reaction collision. One vehicle reportedly rolled and landed on its top, Johnson said.

Three ambulances initially were dispatched, but Johnson said all injuries turned out to be minor and no one was transported.

"This appears to be a series of crashes caused by people going too fast for the existing conditions," Johnson said, but noted the investigation was ongoing and no citations had been issued.

Snow was falling at the time of the crashes and road surfaces were slick.

Northbound lanes through the accident scenes were restricted while troopers completed their investigations and wreckage was cleared. There was no immediate estimate for when traffic would resume at normal levels through the area.
