A vice principal at Vernal Middle School has been arrested on suspicion of child molestation.

David Papadakos was arrested Thursday and booked into the Uintah County Jail on suspicion of aggravated sexual abuse of a child and forcible sexual abuse. According to a statement from Assistant Vernal Police Chief Keith Campbell, the department began investigating Papadakos earlier this month. Police say Papadakos abused one child over a period of about two years.

"The victim is not a student at the school," Campbell said, declining to discuss the case further.

Papadakos' bail has been set at $150,000. A search of Utah court records shows formal charges have not been filed against Papadakos.

Administrators at the Uintah School District did not return calls seeking comment Friday.
