Holiday food drive under way • Through Jan. 15, the Utah Food Bank aims to collect 2.5 million pounds of food and 23,000 frozen turkeys to brighten the holiday season and help feed struggling families and individuals through the winter and spring. Nonperishable food items can be dropped off at Riverton Motors, RC Willey and Smith's Food and Drug Stores, and donations can be made online at https://www.utahfoodbank.org/give-money.
Free lunch for veterans • On Monday, Nov. 12, active, retired or former members of the U.S. military can enjoy a free lunch at any Texas Roadhouse restaurant. Veterans with proof of service a military/VA card or discharge papers can choose from 10 entrées, two sides and a drink. Select from the following Utah sites: 1402 E. Main St. in Lehi, 42 E. 1400 North in Logan, 1265 S. State St. in Orem, 2654 E. Red Cliffs Drive in St. George, 206 W. 10600 South in Sandy, 3969 Wall Ave. in South Ogden, 5418 S. 1900 West in Taylorsville, and 365 N. 500 West in West Bountiful.
