SUU football: Southern Utah edges E. Washington on last-minute field goal

Cedar City • Colton Cook booted a 36-yard field goal with 3 seconds left in the game and Southern Utah rallied for a 30-27 victory over Eastern Washington.

Southern Utah (4-5, 3-3 Big Sky) trailed 27-20 entering the fourth quarter.

Brad Sorensen found Fatu Moala for a 21-yard touchdown pass with 7:01 left in the game to pull the Thunderbirds even.

Sorensen completed 33 of 43 passes for 392 yards and a TD, and Moala caught 10 passes for 112 yards and a TD.

Quarterbacks Kyle Padron and Vernon Adams combined to complete 35 of 50 passes for 404 yards and 2 TDs for Eastern Washington (6-2, 5-1), which was ranked No. 1 in the FCS.

Linebacker Zak Browning had 15 tackles (14 solo) and recovered a fumble for Southern Utah.
