Census reveals Park City, Bluffdale, Fruit Heights have highest home values in area.

Residents in Park City, Bluffdale and Fruit Heights claim, on average, the highest home values.

The U.S. Census Bureau's American Factfinder reveals that those three communities have the highest median home values, while Sunset and Magna had the lowest values for Salt Lake and Davis counties.

The American Factfinder provides a breakdown of demographic data from the U.S. Census bureau. It goes beyond the mere size of a community's population, and looks at things such as education, ethnicity, home ownership and other variables gathered during and between the decennial enumeration.

The bureau data is one of several data sources utahsright.com uses to create a weekly article and graphic in The Salt Lake Tribune's Close-Up section. The series looks at data in the cities covered by the Close-Up editions.

In the case of the home values, the bureau obtained the information by asking homeowners how much they thought their home would sell for. The figure represents the midpoints in the list of numbers provided to the census bureau.
