Tooele city police on Thursday were looking for a 19-year-old man, alleging he first tried to strangle his girlfriend and then later stabbed two men at a party on Halloween night.
The suspect is described as a bald Latino, 5-foot-7, 170 pounds and wearing a red shirt and blue jeans with a blue Yankees baseball cap when last seen.
Tooele police Lt. Paul Wimmer said the suspect and his 17-year-old girlfriend had gone to the city's cemetery to celebrate the holiday. "Something happened and they got into an argument that [allegedly] led to him strangling her until she was unconscious," Wimmer said.
When the girl came to, the suspect had driven away. She stumbled to a nearby road and flagged down a motorist, who drove her to her mother's home where a 911 call was made.
Wimmer said the suspect then drove to a Halloween party at a Tooele home earlyThursday morning, but was told to leave. A fight erupted in which first one man and then another were stabbed with a box cutter. The suspect then fled the scene.
The girlfriend was treated at a hospital for her injuries and released, as was one of the men, but the second stabbed man was in serious condition Thursday at University Hospital.
Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Tooele police at 435-882-8900.
