The best avalanche minds in the intermountain region will gather to discuss avalanche issues on Saturday in Sandy, including lessons learned from accidents and the latest international research.

The Utah Avalanche Center will hold the 4th annual Utah Snow and Avalanche Workshop (USAW) at the SouthTowne Expo Center at 9575 S. State St.

The morning session is for avalanche and snow science professionals only, tickets at the door are $45. The afternoon session is open to the public at 1 p.m. at a cost of $30 at the door. Tickets can be purchased online at www.utahavalanchecenter.org.

USAW has become the largest annual regional avalanche workshop in the U.S. and over 600 participants from around the Intermountain West are expected to attend.

Exhibitors will be showing off their latest goods and the day will end with a happy hour for a more informal chat and quality social time.
