Green River fishing report - quiet times on the river, but fishing remains good

Green River Fishing Report for Nov. 1, 2012 from Ryan Kelly with Flaming Gorge ResortFlows: 800, normally this is about the time the Bureau starts to double peak. I have not received any emails about it yet.Hatches: Small BWO's, Tiny midges, very few CaddisWith last weeks snow there were a few changes on the river. All for the better from a fishing perspective. The dry fly fishing was better this week. The warm and sunny afternoon made for some good terrestrial fishing. We caught good numbers of fish on black terrestrials from size 4-10. We still caught more fish on droppers, but we caught enough on the dries in the afternoons to lose the droppers completely.

While fishing was better this week, there was no change in fly selection. Black for the dry and eggs, worms, and zebras for the droppers. I did not talk to anyone who indicator fished this week. The river was pretty quiet. We saw zero fishing boats on Monday, 2 on Tuesday, and zero yesterday. That's my kind of crowds. There will be more on the weekends though. The snow also pushed a lot of fish to spawning areas. While I didn't see fish actually building a nest there were several pairs in select areas. I don't think it will be to much longer before the spawn is on. We added a lot more big browns into our catch this week to go along with some stellar rainbows. good times and dancing lines, Ryan
