State colleges: Utah routs NAIA foe Concordia in women's basketball

Iwalani Rodrigues scored a game-high 21 points and Taryn Wicijowski tallied 19 points and seven rebounds to lead Utah over Concordia (Ore.) 90-36 in a women's basketball exhibition game Thursday night.

Michelle Plouffe had 12 points and a game-high 19 rebounds for the Utes, who forced 20 turnovers from Concordia — an NAIA school.

Utah plays its regular season opener at Denver on Nov. 10.

BYU 89, Chadron State 51 • Ashley Garfield tallied 15 points and 10 rebounds in an exhibition game in Provo.

Haley Steed had 10 points and seven assists and Lexi Eaton scored 10 points for BYU, which forced 31 turnovers.

The Cougars host Weber State on Nov. 9 in their regular-season opener.

Women's soccer

BYU 1, Loyola Marymount 0 (OT) • In Los Angeles, Marissa Nimmer scored during overtime to help the No. 4 Cougars clinch at least a share of the West Coast Conference title.

BYU (17-1-1), which has won six straight conference games, plays at No. 22 Pepperdine in its regular-season finale.

Women's volleyball

Utah State 3, Denver 2 • In Denver, Rachel Orr led four players in double-figure kills as the Aggies maintained their lead in the Western Athletic Conference with a 25-20, 25-16, 17-25, 23-25, 15-12 victory.

Shay Sorensen had 13 kills, Josselyn White had 11 and Elle Brainard 10. Paige Neves tallied 44 assists and Ashlan Rogers had 20 digs for the Aggies (18-7, 13-2), who have won five straight matches.

Carroll 3, Westminster 1 • In Helena, Mont., Ashley Marchant tallied 13 kills and 15 digs, but it wasn't enough as the Griffins lost 25-23, 23-25, 25-19, 25-17 in Frontier Conference play.

Kenzie Mitchell had 11 kills and Alexis Aalona tallied 10 for Westminster (13-12, 6-8).

Portland State 3, Southern Utah 2 • In Cedar City, the Thunderbirds started strong against the Big Sky Conference-leading Vikings, but couldn't hold on, losing 12-25, 26-24, 25-17, 21-25, 15-6.

Analaine Mailoto smashed a game-high 16 kills and Gabi Mirand tallied 31 assists for SUU (9-18, 5-10).

Kasimira Clark led five Portland State (18-8, 14-1) players in double-figure digs with 28.

Academy of Art 3, Dixie State 1 • In Saint George, Mercedes O'Neal tallied a match-high 20 kills, but it wasn't enough as the Red Storm lost 19-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-22 in Pacific West Conference play.

Brita Jensen had 11 kills and Shelby Soresen had 38 assists for Dixie State (6-13, 4-10).
