It's time to start thinking about roast turkey, bread stuffing, pumpkin pie and — writing a new haiku to Jell-O for The Salt Lake Tribune's annual Jell-O Haiku Contest.

Readers of all ages are encouraged to write a silly, funny or sarcastic haiku about their favorite jiggly food creation. There are categories for adults, as well as secondary and elementary-age children.

A haiku is a three-line poem that is short and easy to write. The first line has five syllables. The second line has seven syllables, and a third goes back to five syllables.

There's a place to include your first and last name, as well as a telephone number and an e-mail address, so we can contact you if you win. Phone numbers and e-mails won't be published.

Our favorite poems will be published on Wednesday, Nov. 21; cookbooks and other food prizes will be awarded for the three best submissions in each category.

Deadline to enter is 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14.
