A 40-year-old man continued to fight for his life Monday, the day after he slammed his motorcycle into the back of an SUV on Interstate 80.

Utah Highway Patrol Cpl. Todd Johnson said the man was believed to have been traveling at 95 to 100 mph when he collided with the SUV about 4 p.m. Sunday on eastbound I-80 near 500 East in Salt Lake City.

"He is still alive today, but in extremely critical condition," Johnson said Monday.

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash but suffered extensive and massive injuries. The driver of the SUV was not hurt.
