South Salt Lake police have identified the victim of a weekend auto-pedestrian accident.

Police spokesman Gary Keller said Bhutari Bhattarai, 39, of South Salt Lake died from injuries she sustained when hit by a car near 2800 South and 300 East about 9 p.m. Saturday.

Keller said Monday that no charges had been filed against the driver, but the case is being screened by the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office.

Keller said Bhattarai was crossing from the east side of the street when she was struck by the northbound vehicle. She was transported to the hospital, where she was later declared dead.

Bhattarai apparently decided to cross the street near a crosswalk, but was not actually in it when she was hit. Keller said the area where the crash occurred is not very well lit.
