Weber State cruises past Western State in exhibition game

Five Weber State players scored in double figures as the Wildcats defeated Western State 82-56 in a season-opening men's basketball exhibition game Monday at the Dee Events Center in Ogden.

Junior Davion Berry led the Wildcats with 15 points.

Weber State never trailed, jumping out to a 30-8 lead with less than 10 minutes to go in the first half.

Women's basketball

Weber State 84, Adams State 44 • Freshman guard Regina Okoye scored 20 points to lead the Wildcats to the exhibition victory.

Women's soccer

Utah Valley 5, Howard 2 • In Orem, Haley Curtis scored two goals, including one just 53 seconds into the game, as the Wolverines won the Great West Conference tournament for the second straight year. UVU (9-11-1) scored five goals for the third straight game.
