A John Greenleaf Whittier forecast for Utah's day after the election: "The day's sharp strife is ended now, Our work is done, God knoweth how!"

Oh, there's also this: the National Weather Service predicts a sunny, clear say with high temperatures near 70 degrees for Wednesday along the Wasatch Front. In southern Utah, more sunshine, blue skies with highs in the low-80s comprise the meteorological menu.

The air will be clear, too, not only of the constant effluent of political attack ads but of harmful levels of pollutants. The Utah Division of Air Quality raised its "Green," or healthy air quality banners statewide for the mid-week.

Salt Lake City looked for a high Wednesday of 71, up from Tuesday's 67-degree forecast; Ogdenites expected 66 and 64 degrees, respectively; Provo 71 and 68; Logan 66 and 65; Wendover 66 and 64; Duchesne 66 and 62; Cedar City 71 and 69; St. George 82 and 81; and Moab 71 and 68 degrees.
