The semitrailer rig driver who died in a Monday crash on Interstate 80 near the Salt Lake-Tooele County line has been identified.

Family members said Suad Ponjevic, 40, of Sacramento, Calif., died at the scene of the crash Monday afternoon.

For reasons unknown, Ponjevic's rig left the westbound lanes and rolled several times, ejecting the driver, according to Utah Highway Patrol Cpl. Todd Johnson.

Johnson said Tuesday that troopers believe the truck slid along a guard rail for about 100 feet before it rolled off the right shoulder. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation, though troopers initially had ruled out speed or impairment as factors, Johnson said.
