The elections are over. Thank goodness. Utah's adopted son lost, creating a lot of disappointment for most of Utah. But not everyone.

Gov. Mitt Romney's concession speech advocated putting aside partisan politics, reaching across the aisle and working for this country's good. Before the ink was dry, the Republican leader of the House, Speaker John Boehner, declared his party as the one with the mandate: no higher taxes. Is this reaching across the aisle?

With his hopes for a job in the Romney administration gone, Rep. Jason Chaffetz will immediately reappear from the Romney campaign trail. I wonder if Utahns in the 3rd District feel they got their fair representation while Chaffetz was campaigning across the country for Romney.

I find it unbelievable that Chaffetz was re-elected with 76 percent of the vote. All of the 3rd District beware: From this point forward, Chaffetz will be campaigning for six years to position himself for Sen. Orrin Hatch's Senate seat. Then he may find time to represent the people in the 3rd district.

Doing work for Utah seems a low priority. Ah, yes, politics as we know it — me first!
