Santa Clara, Calif. • Robbie Keane scored two goals and Mike Magee added another as the Los Angeles Galaxy beat the San Jose Earthquakes 3-0 Wednesday night to complete a 3-1 aggregate victory in the teams' Western Conference semifinal series.
Alan Gordon gave San Jose hope in the 82nd minute when he put away a miss-hit shot from Justin Morrow for his first career playoff goal. But the Earthquakes could not find the equalizer they needed to force overtime.
The win kept alive the Galaxy's hopes of repeating as MLS Cup champions for a second consecutive season. They will face Real Salt Lake or Seattle in the Western Conference finals.
Houston advances • In Kansas City, Kan., The Dynamo held off Sporting Kansas City after Seth Sinovic scored his first career goal in the second half, falling 1-0 on but advancing to the Eastern Conference finals with a 2-1 aggregate-goal result.
The Dynamo won the opening leg Sunday behind goals from Adam Moffat and Will Bruin, and then did enough on defense just barely to advance to its second straight conference title game.
