For some unholy reason, the viciously abrasive comic Doug Stanhope recorded his new live CD/DVD "Before Turning the Gun On Himself" in Salt Lake City. But The Complex audiences were treated to Stanhope's hysterically misanthropic material.
After simmering and starting slowly, he maniacally implodes for the rest of the 70-minute show. It's refreshing when the Arizona-based comic refuses his fans' entreaties to bash the Mormons by telling the audience to "just move" if the LDS culture annoys them.
This material isn't for the faint of ears, but if you want to hear a raunchy take on Keynesian economic theory as well as a gleefully vile rant about Dr. Drew, this might be your lucky stocking stuffer.
