With California voters' rejection of Proposition 37, which would have required mandatory labeling of genetically engineered food, the power of industry dollars was unshakable this past Election Day.

If industry spends enough dollars and creates a clever enough marketing campaign, almost any state ballot proposition that threatens business can be successfully killed!

Pesticide companies like Monsanto, DOW Agrisciences and Bayer CropScience poured millions of dollars into defeating Prop. 37. I wonder why?

Since no one really knows the health risks of genetically modified foods, we citizens should have the right to know what we are buying and consuming.
