I hope President Barack Obama keeps his election night pledge to sit down with Gov. Mitt Romney and "talk about where we can work together to move this country forward," and that he does so soon. Romney just might be willing to follow in the footsteps of Gov. Jon Huntsman and accept a job in Obama's administration.
He could be ambassador to France, or head up implementing the Affordable Care Act (he has experience), or save Medicare with cost-cutting reforms, or be the first secretary of the new Department of Business that Obama wants to form (Romney's mocking that idea shouldn't matter, given his Etch-A-Sketch record).
Obama admires the inclusive approach of Abraham Lincoln, who put his fellow Republican presidential contestants in his administration. Bringing in the opposing party's candidate raises the "team of rivals" concept to a new level.
Romney is a moderate and an achiever, and he would serve the country well, maybe even better in a Democratic administration than a Republican one.
