Utah coach Larry Krystkowiak typically sets a goal of 12 turnovers for his team on a nightly basis.

The Utes had 19 on Friday night.

So even with a 104-47 win over Willamette in a rousing season-opening win, there will still be plenty of room for teaching points in the coming days.

"I think we kind of got ahead of ourselves in the second half," Krystkowiak said. "We had more turnovers than we would like, so we have to work on that."

Utah had 21 assists to go with those 19 turnovers. Coaches typically want a 2-to-1 assist/turnover ratio.

12 of the miscues came in the second half. And while Utah was up 30 points at halftime, a little lethargy may have contributed to the sloppy play.

"They weren't really a pressure team so we shouldn't be throwing the ball away like that, because we're going to be seeing some better teams for sure," Krystkowiak said.
