One man died Saturday night and another was seriously injured during a brawl outside a South Salt Lake strip club.

Police spokesman Gary Keller said detectives Sunday arrested Isaac Anthony Gallegos, 44, of South Salt Lake, on suspicion of aggravated homicide, attempted aggravated homicide, evidence tampering and illegally possessing a weapon.

Keller said a brawl involving about 10 people erupted about 11 p.m. inside the Southern X-Posure club, 3420 S. State St. The fight then spilled into the parking lot where Gallegos allegedly stabbed the two men.

A 27-year-old resident of Bakersfield, Calif., suffered multiple stab wounds to his upper body and died at the scene, Keller said. The name of the victim — who was in Utah for a temporary job — was not released pending notification of his family, police said.

A 29-year-old man who works as a security guard at Southern X-Posure also suffered stab wounds as he attempted to break up the fight. He was transported to an area hospital in serious condition where he remained Sunday, Keller said. Police have not identified him.

Keller said the dispute apparently started as a verbal altercation that turned into a fist fight. Gallegos apparently entered into the brawl armed with a knife and didn't know the man he is accused of killing, Keller said.

In a probable cause statement filed with the Salt Lake County jail, investigators said that multiple witnesses said they saw Gallegos stab the two men with a weapon described as a knife. Police also say Gallegos attempted to discard the clothes he was wearing during the fight. The clothing was later found "torn and stained with blood."

Court records show that Gallegos has several prior criminal convictions, including one for aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony. Jail documents indicate that Gallegos is on parole.
