Hog heaven for blues fans
In his day job, harmonica player Adam Gussow is an associate professor of English and Southern studies at the University of Mississippi. The good news about Mississippi is that the football team beat Auburn and Arkansas this season after going winless in SEC play last year. The bad news about Mississippi is that Louisiana is lucky Mississippi is a state, because otherwise Louisiana would rank last in every economic category.

Fetishizing the '80s
Area 51's next Fetish Ball will have a tattoo theme on Nov. 24, but before that, you can come to the club's pre-Thanksgiving party celebrating the 1980s. Then, on Thanksgiving, you can thank heaven that shoulder pads and stretch-stirrup pants are no longer in fashion. Although personally, I do wish that Members Only jackets would make a resurgence.

Smoke and feathers on Thanksgiving
After enjoying turkey with your family on Thanksgiving, you've got an invitation to the Huka Bar, where employees are dressing in war paint and feathers for the club's annual "Papoose Party." Is it just us, or does this theme seem a bit insensitive in a week in which the lingerie company Victoria's Secret made headlines for apologizing after a model donned an Indian headdress during a fashion show?

Where • Huka Bar & Grill, 151 E. 6100 South, Murray
