The Salt Lake Symphony, with Music Director and Conductor Robert Baldwin, will present their annual holiday concert on Saturday, Dec. 15 at 7:30 pm at Libby Gardner Concert Hall on President's Circle on the University of Utah campus.

Called "We Three Kings," the program will explore the story of the three wise men of the nativity story and is billed as having "three very diverse and colorful musical interpretations"

Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students and seniors, and are available in advance by calling 801-792-1313. They can also be purchased at the door.

Excerpt from a press release:The symphony will present Respighi's Three Botticelli Pictures, a beautiful and tender three-movement work. Though not originally intended as a holiday work, one of the movements sonically describes Botticelli's masterpiece, The Adoration of the Magi. Switching gears, we will also present Duke Ellington's Three Black Kings (Les Trois Rois Noirs). Designed as an homage to civil rights leader Martin Luther King, the first movement depicts Balthazar, one of the three wise men. Other movements depict King Solomon and Martin Luther King himself. Ellington's jazz language and evocative style abound in this, his last symphonic work. After intermission, we reset the stage for a re-imagining of the Magi story in Giancarlo Menotti's classic short opera, Amahl and the Night Visitors. We are pleased to collaborate with the University of Utah Lyric Opera Ensemble for this special performance of a holiday classic, under the stage direction of Dr. Robert Breault.
