BYU's 2013, 2014 and 2015 football schedules came into clearer focus on Thursday with several scheduling announcements from around the country, including one from the Cougars themselves. As you can read here, BYU and UNLV have agreed to a home-and-home football series that will begin in 2014 in Provo (Nov. 15) and conclude in 2015 in Las Vegas (Nov. 14). To my recollection, it is the first scheduling agreement between BYU and a Mountain West Conference school since the Cougars announced they were leaving the league back in 2010. It appears that relations between BYU and some of its former conference foes are thawing a bit. I'll call it an outright warming when Wyoming agrees to play BYU again. Don't count on that. Also today, the University of Utah announced its 2013 nonconference football schedule, and the Utes are saying that they will play at BYU on Sept. 21, 2013. It was originally assumed that the Utes and Cougars would play on either Sept. 14 or Sept. 28, so the announcement was somewhat of a surprise. As of now, BYU doesn't have a game on Sept. 14 (the week before the Utah game). It will be interesting to see if BYU fills that date (with an FCS opponent, most likely) or leaves it open to give itself two weeks to prepare for the Utes. I had ticketed BYU to host Boise State on Sept. 21, but obviously that won't happen now. Brian Murphy of the Idaho Statesman, responding to a question on his Twitter account, said the BYU-Boise State game will be played on Oct. 26, 2013, in Provo. Also Thursday, Middle Tennessee State's athletic director, Chris Massaro, noted via Twitter that MTSU will play at BYU on Nov. 16, 2013 and will play host to BYU on Nov. 1, 2014. "Dates could change, though," Massaro wrote. With all that in mind, here we go. Here's how the 2013, 2014 and 2015 schedules stack up, as far as I know.
