UPDATE: Silly me, wrong highlight video.

The Utah State men's basketball team has signed a former Utah prep star they hope can make an impact in 2013.

Southern Utah forward Kyle Davis, a 6-foot-7 forward, will join the Aggies next year, joining incoming freshmen wing Jalen Moore and center Carson Shanks. Davis committed to Utah State during his LDS Church mission earlier this year, and officially signed a national letter of intent on Wednesday.

Locals might know Davis as a former Class 5A MVP who led Alta High to a state basketball championship as a senior. As a freshman for the Thunderbirds, Davis averaged 8.5 points and 5.3 rebounds.

The coaching staff will use Davis as another option at power forward, helping the depth at that position after Kyisean Reed graduates this year.

"Kyle has already proven he can play at the Division I level and his best days are ahead of him," coach Stew Morrill said in a school release. "He is a skilled, active four man, which is so essential in our offensive schemes."
