Sports briefs: Utah Grizzlies lose 6-2 to Stockton Thunder

ECHL Hockey • The Stockton Thunder beat out the Utah Grizzlies on Friday, winning 6-2 in Stockton, Calif. The Grizzlies were outshot 42-27 in the loss.

Bryan Cameron and Josh Burrows scored for Utah, with Gaelan Patterson assisting on both.

The Grizzlies fell behind early, letting the Thunder take a 3-1 lead after the first period and then going scoreless in the second.

Utah goalkeeper Grant Rolheiser made 36 saves in 60 minutes of play.

MLB • A person familiar with the deal says All-Star game MVP Melky Cabrera is set to join the busy Toronto Blue Jays in his return from a drug suspension.

Cabrera and the Blue Jays have reached agreement on a two-year contract worth $16 million. The deal is pending a physical, the person told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because there was no official announcement.
