The Richens Eye Center in St. George announced that Rachael S. Jacoby, a retina specialist, has joined the firm to provide treatment for vitreous diseases, retinal detachment, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. Jacoby received her bachelor's degree in molecular and cell biology from the University of Arizona in 1999, and earned her medical degree from Creighton University Medical School in Omaha, Nebraska.

Physician Group of Utah has announced that Ernest Severn and Kimberly Simpson have joined the new Davis Urgent Care in Layton. Severn is a board-certified family medicine physician with more than 12 years of experience in both a hospital and private-practice setting. He earned his medical degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. Simpson is a board-certified family nurse practitioner with more than 26 years of experience working in a variety of settings, including emergency rooms and Army Nurse Corp. She earned her degree in nursing from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, followed by a master's degree in nursing from Westminster College.

The law firm of Snow, Christensen & Martineau announced that Daniel D. Hill has joined its team of attorneys in the Salt Lake City office. Hill will focus on corporate and securities litigation and commercial litigation. Prior to joining the firm, Hill ran his own practice in Minneapolis and was senior corporate counsel for a publicly traded company, representing it in 46 states.

The Utah Chapter of the American Institute of Architects has awarded it 2012 Associate's Award to Chamonix Larsen, an architecture intern with GSBS Architects in Salt Lake City. Larsen is a former energy program director of the state Division of Facility and Construction Management.

Kareina Westlund, regional retail manager for U.S. Bank in Salt Lake City, was among a team of 84 U.S. Bancorp women recognized by American Banker Magazine in its "Most Powerful Women in Banking" issue in October.

Holland & Hart has announced the addition of Christopher Hadley to its intellectual property practice group. The addition brings to 79 the number of attorneys in the Salt Lake City firm.

Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage said it has appointed Linda Geer manager of its Draper office. Geer has been one of Coldwell Banker's top agents for more than 25 years. She most recently worked out of the company's office in Sandy

The Utah Arts Council has announced the election of its director, Margaret Hunt, to the board of directors of the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies. She was chosen at the organization's annual assembly in early October in Washington, D.C. NASAA is a membership organization that represents and serves the nation's state and jurisdictional arts agencies.

L. Brent Gardner, executive director of the Utah Association of Counties, graduated recently from the Certified County Association Executive Program overseen by national organizations of county officials.

Kevin Root has been named president and chief operating officer of DrivingSales, Salt Lake City. The company provides business intelligence and performance information designed to help automobile dealers increase profitability. Root has served on the DrivingSales advisory board since 2009.

Ken Abdalla, the new owner of The SkyLodge, a boutique hotel in Park City, has made several management changes. The team directed by general manager Michael Schofield will include Lawrence Acedo, as director of food and beverage; executive chef Kevin Dalebout, who previously served at Deer Valley Resort's Mariposa Restaurant; David Olson, director of rooms; Melissa Renschler, as human resources manager; and Hilary Reiter, as director of marketing and public relations.

Paula J. Lewis has been named audit/QuickBooks specialist at Ogden-based James & Co. Business Advisors/CPAs. Having served as office manager with James & Co. for more than 10-years, she returns to the firm after working with a large firm in northern Utah in a similar capacity. Her background also includes experience in human resources with Hercules, as well as a number of years in a support position in corporate engineering and corporate patent law.
