Tucson, Ariz. • Jennifer Hamson scored a career-high 23 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead BYU over Arizona 62-48 on Tuesday in women's college basketball.

"Jennifer Hamson causes so many problems for the other team," BYU head coach Jeff Judkins said. "Not just with scoring but her defensive presence. It's nice to have her back. She is a great player."

Lexi Eaton scored 14 points and Kim Parker Beeston had 12 for the Cougars (3-2), who handed the Wildcats (4-1) their first loss of the season.

Women's volleyball

BYU 3, Utah Valley 0 • Jennifer Hamson had 13 kills, four blocks and a .455 hitting percentage as the No. 16-ranked Cougars won their regular-season finale, 25-10, 25-15, 25-16 at Smith Fieldhouse in Provo.

"Jennifer played in her basketball game this morning, and we were a little worried about her coming out a little flat tonight, but she responded and played great," BYU coach Shawn Olmstead said.

Alexa Gray smashed 12 kills and Heather Hannemann tallied 29 assists and 12 digs for her 11th double-double of the season for BYU (26-3, 13-3 West Coast Conference).
