After reading that "the 10 states with the highest percentage of people over age 25 with college degrees all voted for President Barack Obama," Larry Bergen concluded "that today's colleges may educate people, but they surely don't make them intelligent" ("Dummy degrees," Forum, Nov. 24).

Bergen needs to learn that college isn't supposed to make students intelligent. That is a trait people are born with. Beyond that, intelligence is not defined by whether a person's opinions differ from your own.
