What's the GOP going to do? They're not getting the vote of minorities what a surprise! Have they done something to earn their vote? Hardly.
I've worked in Park City at different jobs for the past 12 years, and the exploitation of Hispanics in the hotel industry is plainly obvious. Why? Cheap labor.
Are these jobs that whites won't do, or are they jobs that just don't pay enough for most people? Either way, Hispanics working for $7 to $9 an hour in an industry that is fed by rich white people, don't appear to be reaping many benefits from the trickle-downers.
Then there's David Siegel, owner of the Westgate Hotel empire, who before the election "told his employees via email that their jobs may be at risk if Barack Obama was elected president" ("Queen of Versailles' tycoon isn't laying anyone off yet," Tribune, Nov. 9). Are threats all that rich conservatives have left to win votes for tax-cutting Republicans?
People who the wealthy used for their own greed are now turning against them. What a shame. After decades of exploitation, could not Republicans see this coming?
