Ogden police have identified an 86-year-old woman struck and killed by a vehicle backing out of the driveway as Norma Holmgren.

Holmgren was hit about 10:30 a.m. Saturday while walking in her neighborhood near 1600 East and 27th Street, Ogden Police Lt. Scott Conley said.

Police have not released the name of the woman driver; however, Conley said the two women knew each other.

The driver called 911 when she realized the elderly woman had been injured. Holmgren was taken by ambulance to McKay-Dee Hospital, where she died.

The accident investigation remained ongoing Sunday, Conley said.
