Mall and Xmas spirit

In "Mall not festive" (Forum, Dec. 2), Adam Gold laments that the Christmas decorations at City Creek Center aren't festive enough to get him "into the Christmas spirit." Well, if shopping is one's idea of getting in the Christmas spirit, I suggest people like Gold visit the toy department and buy ample gifts for some sub-for-Santa program. Or do the same at the grocery store for the food bank.

That kind of shopping for anonymous, needy others will get one into the spirit more than overwhelming "lights, lavish Victorian greenery and unique displays."
