In "Mall not festive" (Forum, Dec. 2), Adam Gold criticized City Creek Center for its lack of "unique displays" that engender the Christmas spirit. He must not have hung around the fountains to watch them dance to Christmas songs. It quite entertaining.

When the word "fire" is sung, flames leap from the waters. Now, that's a pretty unique display, and definitely one reason to "make a trip from the suburbs."

Scrooge's problem was that he didn't want any Christmas. Gold's is that he wants too much. If we all lower our expectations, we'll all have a happier Christmas.
