A couple of BYU football players have been named to the 2012 All-America Second Team by CBSSports.com. Junior linebacker Kyle Van Noy and senior punter Riley Stephenson made the second team. The first-team punter is Ryan Allen of Louisiana Tech; The first-team linebackers are Notre Dame's Manti Te'o, Alabama's C.J. Mosely and Georgia's Jarvis Jones. Te'o is a senior and Jones and Mosley are juniors.Utah's Star Lotulelei also made the second team, at defensive tackle. Utah's Reggie Dunn is the first-team kick returner. By the way, Notre Dame's Te'o, a one-time BYU recruit, has won the Butkus Award. BYU's Van Noy was a candidate for that honor. There's been a lot of talk over the weekend about BYU coach Bronco Mendenhall being targeted by Colorado as a possible replacement for fired coach Jon Embree after a Denver Post column on Friday suggested the Buffaloes were interested in BYU's eight-year coach. Whatever Mendenhall's future is, the coach will be participating in Wednesday's news conference in San Diego, hosted by the San Diego Bowl Association, to kick off the hype for the Poinsettia and Holiday bowls, according to a news release from BYU issued Monday morning.
