Dusty Fielding of St. George missed obtaining PGA Tour membership by four strokes but still achieved a career breakthrough Monday by qualifying for the Web.com Tour.

Fielding shot 72-70-67-71-71-68 for a total of 13-under-par 419, tying for 49th place in the final stage of the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament at La Quinta, Calif.

His finish gives him full access to the 2013 Web.com Tour, which includes the Utah Championship at Willow Creek Country Club in Sandy. Fielding was among 12 golfers who had to advance through three preliminary tournaments just to reach the final stage.

Fielding, who grew up in Richfield, was the runner-up in the 2012 Siegfried & Jensen Utah Open in Farmington.

Former BYU golfer Dean Wilson, a PGA Tour veteran, failed in his effort to regain his card by shooting 72-73-67-68-74-71 and tying for 104th place.
