music • "Rage Against the Machine XX" celebrates the 20th anniversary of one of the most incendiary albums released in a generation, the debut self-titled album from the Los Angeles band Rage Against the Machine featuring vocalist Zack de la Rocha and three later members of Audioslave.
Released in three configurations (with the largest featuring two CDs, two DVDs and a vinyl), the record still sounds fresh, thanks to Tom Morello's scathing and innovative guitar work amplifying de la Rocha's rabble-rousing lyrics coupled with the most recognizable voice in rap-rock history.
In 2012, the cover of the album and its signature song "Killing in the Name Of" still frighten but are a bold call to arms: "Some of those that work forces/ Are the same that burn crosses / And now you do what they told ya ... /F- you, I won't do what you tell me."
