A 61-year-old Davis County man pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from allegations that he sexually assaulted two girls while baby-sitting them eight years ago.
Brent E. Weyland entered the pleas on Thursday in 2nd District Court. He was charged in August with two counts of first-degree felony aggravated sexual abuse of a child, one count of second-degree felony sexual abuse of child, and one count of lewdness involving a child, a class A misdemeanor.
According to a warrant filed in 2nd District Court, Weyland allegedly abused the two girls between January 2004 and December 2005. Clearfield police indicate in the warrant that the man held a position of power over the girls because he was baby-sitting them when the alleged abuse occurred.
Weyland is due back in court for a pretrial conference on Jan. 3. No trial date has been set.
