Plans for tonight: Saving an otter

• This month's "Science Movie Night" — the documentary "Otter 501," about an otter that washed up on the northern California shore and was brought back to health by the Monterey Bay Aquarium — happens at the City Library auditorium, 210 E. 400 South, Salt Lake City. After the screening, Tracy Meiners, aquarist for the Living Planet Aquarium, will discuss the aquarium's river otters and the status of Utah's wild otters. Screening starts at 7. Free, presented by the Natural History Museum of Utah and the Utah Film Center.

• Local author Jessica Day George will read from and sign copies of her new book, "Princess of the Silver Woods," at The King's English, 1511 S. 1500 East, Salt Lake City. The event starts at 7. Free.
