Logan • It took more than a half, but the Utah State basketball team shook off the rust. And Western Oregon was no contest for the full-steam Aggies.

Utah State delivered a second-half knockout, pummelling the Wolves 86-57 on an emotional evening as junior forward Danny Berger came back to the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum on Saturday night.

The Aggies got leadership from their backcourt, as freshman Marcel Davis led with 21 points. Utah State also dominated the boards, outrebounding the Wolves 43-21.

The gap opened up in the second half, as the Aggies galloped away on a 14-2 run fueled by Davis and Preston Medlin. In the closing minutes, Western Oregon looked all but helpless to stop the run.

Utah State trailed in the opening minutes, giving up early turnovers. But the Aggies quickly recovered as Davis took over at point guard, scoring eight straight points to build up a lead.
