Utah Highway Patrol spokesman Dwayne Baird encouraged drivers to not only use seat belts, but to refuse to drive unless all passengers do the same ("Buckle up UHP troopers on the lookout for seat belts," Tribune, Dec. 6).
I have been troubled by the number of recent auto accidents where unbuckled adult parents were ejected and killed, while their belted-in children survived. Why do parents neglect their own safety?
When will we learn that good parenting includes protecting ourselves so our precious children can grow up with a mom and dad?
