Lone Peak's Willey earns player of the year award

Lone Peak senior Kizzy Willey was named the 2012-13 Gatorade Utah volleyball player of the year Wednesday.

Willey, who earned The Tribune's 5A MVP honors this season, recorded 303 kills, 224 digs and 38 blocks for the Knights this season. She helped the team reach the 5A state title match, where it fell to Pleasant Grove in three sets. She had 13 kills in the match.

The 6-foot-1 Willey will continue her volleyball career at Arizona State. She plans to begin classes at Arizona State in January.
