As a female member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints, I do not feel inferior or unequal because I am a woman, and I feel a responsibility to reach out with love, understanding and empathy to those who may.

Recently, there has been a "Wear Pants to Church Day" campaign by Mormon feminists. It isn't a church rule that I must wear a dress to church, but I do so as an expression to the Lord of my "best dressed."

Out of convenience and comfort, I wear pants every other day of the week. For me, Sundays are a special day when I renew my covenants with Heavenly Father by partaking of the sacrament. I would feel as if it weren't special if I wore what I did every other day of the week.

Personal feelings and choices aside, I extend love and acceptance to all and welcome any to worship with us, regardless of what they choose to wear. Remember, "the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart" (1 Samuel 16:17). We must not judge others, but invite, welcome and love.
