State colleges: BYU cruises to home win over Tulsa in women's basketball

Provo • Ashley Garfield and Stephanie Vermunt Seaborn each scored 12 points off the bench, leading BYU over Tulsa 70-48 in women's college basketball Saturday.

Jennifer Hamson tallied 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Morgan Bailey had 10 points off the bench for the Cougars (6-4), who held Tulsa to 27 percent shooting.

Utah Valley 62, Northern Arizona 44 • In Flagstaff, Ariz., Sammine Jensen tallied 13 points and eight rebounds as coach Cath Nixon earned her 300th-career victory.

Whitney Jenkins had 10 points for the Wolverines (3-9).

Westminster 68, Rogers State 65 • In Claremont, Okla., Cydney Tibbitts was 4 of 9 from 3-point range for a game-high 25 points as the No. 5-ranked Griffins rallied to beat the 14th-ranked Hillcats.

Kelsi Wells (14), Nicole Yazzie (12) and Tia Pappas each scored in double figures for Westminster (9-2).

Snow College 67, SLCC 64 (OT) • Becca Rees scored 18 points as the Badgers edged No. 20 Salt Lake Community College in both teams' Scenic West Athletic Conference opener.

Courtnie Duncan (11) and Kiz Farrer also scored in double figures for Snow (6-6, 1-0). Natalie Parsons hit a 3-pointer at the end of regulation to force overtime for SLCC (7-4, 0-1).

Men's basketball

SLCC 74, Snow College 70 • Skyler Halford scored a game-high 23 points for Salt Lake Community College (10-2, 1-0), which snapped a nine-game winning streak for No. 20 Snow (12-2, 0-1) in both teams' SWAC opener.
