Sport Clips opens in Salt Lake City

Sport Clips Haircuts has opened at 613 E. 400 South in Salt Lake City. The shop, which employs eight, offers haircuts while its patrons watch sports on TVs. Franchise owner Dylan Brunjes plans to open two additional Sport Clips in the Salt Lake City area within the next year.

Apple sells 2M iPhone 5s in China debut

Apple said it sold more than 2 million iPhone 5s in China in their first three days of availability, setting a record for that market. The device, which launched in China on Friday, will be available in more than 100 countries by the end of December. The phone debuted on Sept. 21 in the U.S., Germany, France, Japan and five other countries, with more than 5 million of the phones sold in the first three days.

Economists see moderate growth in 2013

Business economists are forecasting modest growth in 2013, with strength coming from a rebound in housing, which will help offset weak business investment. The National Association for Business Economics expects overall expansion of 2.1 percent after 2.2 percent growth in 2012. That would continue the same tepid trend evident since the Great Recession ended in mid-2009.

Logan firm honored for job creation

Conservice Utility Management and Billing, based in Logan, has been honored by INC Magazine for job creation. The recognition comes through the publication's first-ever Hire Power awards. Conservice hired 93 employees in the third quarter and by the end of the year will employ nearly 500 Utahns.
