Greetings from overcast San Diego, everyone. I just landed here in America's Most Beautiful City and will be headed over to Helix High School in La Mesa to watch the first 10 minutes of BYU's football practice as the Cougars continue preparations for Thursday's Poinsettia Bowl. Meantime, there's some news from the BYU basketball front to report. After posting a career-high 33 points in Saturday's 78-68 win over Weber State, BYU's Brandon Davies is the West Coast Conference Player of the Week. Davies was 14 of 17 from the field and 5 of 6 from the free-throw line in the win. Gonzaga's Kelly Olnyk, St. Mary's' Matthew Dellavedova and Santa Clara's Evan Roquemore were also nominated. The Cougars play host to Eastern New Mexico on Tuesday in Provo. Davies is the first Cougar to win a WCC men's basketball POW award this season.
