Re "New TRAX lines still short of ridership projections" (Tribune, Dec. 14):
OK, are you ready to get mad?
The West Valley TRAX green line extension has 80 percent of the projected 3,300 daily boardings. That's 2,640 boardings per day; divided by two, that's 1,320 round-trip customers a day. The line cost around $370 million that $280,303 hard-earned tax dollars per customer! Wasn't that fun?
Now let's do the Daybreak TRAX red line extension to South Jordan: 76 percent of the 5,300 projected boardings is 4,028 actual boardings, or 2,014 round-trip daily customers. The line cost around $535 million $265,640 per customer!
Shut it down! Get mad. Fire the Utah Transit Authority. Do something. This is crazy!
