The Weber County Bar Association has chosen Durham Jones & Pinegar associate Michael S. Malmborg as its 2013 president-elect. Malmborg will take office in 2014 as the bar's president. He has been a member of the Weber County Bar Association since 2006. Malmborg's practice specializes in estate planning, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, business and probate litigation and property law.
Physician Group of Utah announced that Mark Scholl, a board certified orthopedic surgeon, has relocated Endurance Orthopedics from its Highland Drive location in Salt Lake City to an office on Parley's Way. Scholl earned his medical degree at Northwestern University. He completed an orthopedic residency at Emory University.
Christopher Valentine, a board certified family medicine physician with more than 12 years of experience in private practice, has opened Sandy Ridge Family Medicine. The clinic is a member of Physician Group of Utah. Valentine earned his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where he also completed his residency. He has served as medical staff president at Jordan Valley Medical Center and Pioneer Valley Hospital.
Steve Stauffer has been named the managing partner of the Salt Lake City office of Grant Thornton LLP, a global public accounting firm. He has 19 years of experience at companies in the Intermountain West and California. Katina Curtis is the new audit practice leader in the Salt Lake City office. She is an audit senior manager and has experience at companies in Utah, California and other states. She also serves as an associate professor in accounting at the University of Utah. In other promotions, Adam Porter is a new senior tax associate, working in federal and state tax compliance for individuals, partnerships and corporations; Hilary Hansen Couraud is a new senior audit associate. She has experience with software, and multilevel marketing companies, and a master's degree in accounting from the University of Utah; Kara Nelson is a new audit senior associate who joined Grant Thornton as an intern in 2009; Jon Lee is a new audit manager in the Salt Lake City office who also serves as an associate professor in the accounting department at the University of Utah; Andrew Brown is the new audit manager. He has a master's of accountancy degree from Brigham Young University.
Adam D. Wentz has joined the litigation section at the Salt Lake City-based law firm of Ray Quinney & Nebeker after being an associate at another local firm. Wentz's practice covers commercial litigation, product liability defense, work-site injuries, construction defects and general litigation.
The Salt Lake City-based engineering firm of Dunn Associates Inc. has announced that David R. Smith has joined as a structural engineer. Smith received his bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Brigham Young University, and is a licensed structural engineer in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Washington, Arizona, and Wyoming.
The CAPROCK Group, a financial planning firm that caters to high net-worth families, has announced that Greg B. Robinson has joined as a managing director and will lead the firm's new office in Park City. Most recently, Robinson served as a vice president and wealth adviser at Wells Fargo Private Bank in Salt Lake City.
