Utah Jazz survive errors to notch comeback win over Brooklyn

Brooklyn • A series of blunders nearly cost the Jazz one of their most satisfying wins of the season.

The Jazz turned the ball over on inbounds passes twice in the final 28 seconds, but missed shots by Gerald Wallace and Reggie Evans before the buzzer secured the 92-90 victory for the Jazz over Deron Williams and the Nets.

The Jazz trailed by 13 at halftime.

Five Jazz players scored in double figures, led by 19 from Mo Williams. The first-year Jazz point guard's 3-pointer with 5:41 left gave the Jazz an 82-80 advantage, their first lead since 30-29 in the second quarter.

Williams, the former Jazz point guard who made waves this week by criticizing the Nets' offense, scored 14 points for Brooklyn, and the Nets were led by 21 from Joe Johnson.

The Nets trailed 90-88 with 1:51 remaining and had an opportunity to tie the game. But Deron Williams tried to back down Mo Williams, bowled him over with his elbow, and was called for an offensive foul.

On the other end, Al Jefferson made an 18-foot jumper. After another miss by Deron Williams, Mo Williams missed a 3-pointer, but Jefferson secured the offensive rebound with 48 seconds remaining.

The Jazz turned the ball over with 28 seconds left after Mo Williams slipped trying to receive an inbounds pass from Gordon Hayward. After Johnson made free throws, the Jazz once again were forced to inbound at halfcourt, and DeMarre Carroll threw a sloppy pass to Al Jefferson, who had the ball stripped.

Wallace got an open look at a 3. Evans rebounded the miss and missed a fall-away bank shot that would have forced overtime.

Playing against his former team, Derrick Favors — acquired by the Jazz in the Feb. 23, 2011 trade that shipped Deron Williams to the Nets — scored 13 points and blocked three shots.
